Taking the (polar) plunge! Lady Gaga and her fiance Taylor Kinney stripped down and participated in the Polar Plunge in frigid cold Chicago on Sunday, Mar. 1.
The engaged couple -- along with 4,500 other participants -- ran into icy Lake Michigan for the fundraiser benefitting the Special Olympics.
Gaga wore a black Chicago Fire shirt and leggings to help counter the freezing cold temperatures outdoors. Meanwhile, her brave fiance went shirtless as they scampered into waters lining North Avenue Beach.
Gaga also attempted to describe to her fans on Instagram how frigid it was in Chicago. "My weave froze!!" the singer wrote alongside a photo of her hunky man leading the way after their dip. "Taylor gave me his hat I thought my wig was gonna freeze into and become one with the lake."
During their excursion, Gaga was photographed clutching Kinney's neck as the two embraced each other for body warmth. He then gave his future wife a piggyback ride after it was all over.
Gaga later shared the same photo from the outing on Instagram and wrote: "Feels so good to do things for a good cause like the Special Olympics. It's great donate money, but also great to donate a gesture of love for those who deserve to be showered with it."
Actor Vince Vaughn, a native of Lake Forest, Il., also took the plunge on Sunday wearing jeans and a Chicago Blackhawks jersey. The actor -- who was in the first wave of participants -- told CBS Chicago that emerging from the water was "fantastic." In 2014, Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon participated in the annual fundraiser, opting to take the plunge in a suit and tie. According to CBS, this year's Polar Plunge raised more than $1 million.
Gaga and Kinney's appearances were a total surprise following their engagement last month. As previously reported by Us Weekly and confirmed by Gaga herself, the singer and Kinney got engaged this past Valentine's Day. The actor proposed with a brilliant Lorraine Schwartz heart-shaped diamond.
The songstress made more headlines this past week after her incredible Sound of Music tribute at the 2015 Oscars last Sunday. It was also revealed that she will be starring in the upcoming season of anthology series American Horror Story.
